An eBay sale can look profitable until the item cost, selling fees, shipping and supplies are all included. Use this calculator to model the sale with the fee rate you currently expect for your category and account. Enter the price you expect the buyer to pay, what the item cost you, the fees you expect, shipping you will cover and any packaging or other sale costs.
Treat the result as a planning estimate rather than a guaranteed payout. eBay fees can vary by category, seller settings, promotions and other factors, so the most useful number is the rate that applies to your own listing today. If you are comparing two possible prices, calculate both instead of relying on gross sale price alone.
The goal is not simply to make every item show a positive number. It is to decide whether the expected profit is worth the money and time tied up in that item. A lower-priced item with fast turnover can sometimes be more useful than a higher-priced item that sits for months, so use the profit estimate alongside your own sell-through expectations.
